There is no one-size-fits-all fee in the world of conferences and one-on-one education for communities. I want your event to be successful and prosperous and your community to learn and strengthen their impact. Therefore, I will consider a stipend that is within your organization’s budget. The amount should commensurate with other professional speaker’s and consultants. My mission is to help others embrace the change agent within themselves to make a difference in the lives of their whole community.
In addition to a speaker or consultant fee, I also request that travel reimbursement include round trip expenses incurred from my home in Nashville, IL to your site. I practice good stewardship and keep travel costs to a minimum.
DQ presentations include handouts and workbooks. These items are an additional cost to the community.
The book, “What Living as a Resident Can Teach Long-Term Care Staff” can be included for each participant. Although this is an additional cost, it would be a discounted rate.
In 2013, I spent a week participating in the "Through the Looking Glass," program and living in Aviston Countryside Manor, a Skilled Nursing Home. This program was created by Leslie Pedtke, to help staff members better understand what living there was like for people and help to build staff empathy. I found the experience to be among the most effective and creative programs in my over 15 years of working in the field of dementia arts. This truly innovative program allowed me to fully immerse myself what it means to live in a nursing home and that lived experience has made me a better teaching artist, workshop leader and person. It is an honor to highly recommend the work of Ms. Pedtke.

Leslie is an amazing presenter! Leslie effectively keeps the audience engaged through the impact of her message, but she also incorporates activities to get the audience to enthusiastically participate in the conversation. Leslie’s sharing of “Through the Looking Glass”, was not only an emotional, eye opening experience, but I believe it is a story and presentation that should be shared with everyone, especially those in the senior living industry. It places you directly in the perspective of our residents, and how we can all work together to be empathetic and provide the best care! I look forward to more of Leslie’s insights and experience in the future!

Leslie Pedtke was a presenter at VOYCE's 2019 Long Term Care Conference. Her presentation, Partnering with Family Members in the Care of Their Loved Ones with Dementia, was well received and well regarded. Leslie combines her area of expertise, working with dementia residents and their families, with practical, relatable advice that kept the audience engages and informed. The conference attendees left Leslie's presentation with new skills and ideas to use in their care of their loved ones with dementia.
